QUALIFICATION:
- 12thPass + GNM Course
- 12thPass + B.Sc. (Nursing)
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in OT preferred; experience in Cardiac OT is an advantage.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive and verify patient identity, consent, and investigation reports.
- Assist in patient preparation: shaving, gowning, pre-op medication, and psychological support.
- Ensure sterile environment and availability of all cardiac surgical instruments, perfusion items, grafts, valves, and equipment like heart-lung machine, defibrillator, etc.
- Participate in the surgical safety checklist and time-out procedure.
- Work asscrub nurse or circulating nurse for cardiac surgeries like CABG, valve replacements, congenital heart defect repairs, transplant, vascular ortho etc.
- Ensure strict aseptic technique is maintained throughout the procedure.
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the team.
- Anticipate surgeon’s needs and assist with complex instruments (sternal retractors, cannulas, grafts).
- Coordinate with perfusionist and anesthesia team during bypass and weaning stages.
- Document intraoperative events, medication given, and patient vitals (if delegated).
- Handover the patient to the cardiac ICU nurse with detailed intraoperative information.
- Send specimens (biopsy, grafts) for histopathology or culture as required.
- Assist in OT cleanup and re-sterilization.
- Recheck inventory and report any used, missing, or malfunctioning equipment.
- Maintain OT records, register entries, and incident reports.
- Adhere to Hospital standards and hospital policies.
- Maintain biomedical waste management protocols and check expiry dates of drugs and disposables
- All necessary precaution and protocol are followed for organ retrieval team
- Willingness to work in shifts and on-call duties.
- Any other work/responsibility assigned by the HOD/Management in the course of business/work whether within the same unit/dept or any other unit/dept from time to time
