Psychiatry

KEM Hospital, Pune has a well-established Psychiatry Unit, which is part of the Department of
Medicine. We have a team of eminent psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and researchers who
are collaboratively involved in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental health
problems. We offer in-patient, out-patient, and liaison psychiatry along with psychological
assessments and therapies for adults, the elderly, children and families suffering from a range
of mental, addictive and emotional disorders.

We help clients survive adversities and accompany them on their journey of realizing their
potential of being positive contributing members to society. We provide high quality, affordable,
accessible, and equitable services to people from all sections of the community.

The department has been an academic and teaching unit for over 35 years. We have also been
at the forefront of various research projects, aiming to translate contemporary research into
practice.

Services

Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of conditions ranging from the more common
stress and lifestyle related disorders, such as depression, anxiety and OCD, that cause
suffering and dysfunction to the more complex conditions, such as schizophrenia and psychotic
disorders, and bipolar disorder. We also offer specialist services for people with learning
disabilities, substance misuse, psychosexual problems, medico-legal cases, and others.

Clinics

Child Guidance Clinic

Our weekly clinic has been operating for more than 15 years in collaboration with the
Paediatrics Department. It consists of a multi-disciplinary team comprising of a psychiatrist, a
paediatrician, psychologists, and social workers. The clinic also provides assessments and
reports required for organ transplant procedures.
